Early Czech Press Praise for HARRY'S LOFT:
QUOTE "We now discuss Ethan Persoff, a strange American, who combines forgotten U.S. vinyl into mad new shapes. A high regard is given to his SPREE, a longplaying album that sought drug usage during time of Bush occupation of North America. The recording still entertains as a time capsule of those brief comedic years of U.S. government illness. Now from same soul, a more labored work of four years has arrived. It is entitled LIVE AT HARRY'S LOFT. Our excited verdict is it succeeds, and is very different album than before.
For years Persoff has been known for online collection of printed disturbances, the website Comics With Problems. It appears he is now finally applying this same worrisome thought to source material for audio usage. This is beautiful sound we have to call Music With Problems and we can not stop listening to it.
Where else can anyone hear, for good example, something as brain twisting as 'A Polish Bullfight'. To describe this song is to celebrate that it exists: A rude woman named Barbra Streisand complains about the mentally retarded not being smart enough to wear pants. Behind her we hear the sounds of midgets having a loud physical mate. There is then broken glass in our ears and we are transported to the world of the child predator, serenaded to a ballad. The song resembles theme of television's 'Greatest American Hero', and instructs listeners who are enduring child molestation to "Use their body like a weapon". Added to this are comedian jokes and cartoon noises paired with a bad trumpet solo. (Persoff?) We ask, where else is music like this created or compiled? We can provide no answers but feel this quite unique and uncommon. Also of note on album is the glittering 'Disneyland'. Throughout all, the ear reveals new things with each listen, depending on mood. Other problematic highlights include 'An Empty Glass', 'The Fight Against V.D.' and a rousing abortion number entitled 'A Trashcan For Your Brain'. Five Stars."
