We were compiling comics related to newspapers for Issue #47 when we picked up what we was assumed to be two issues of the same comic (normally it's a good practice to acquire a copy to scan and another to preserve untouched) A funny surprse when a copy of YOU'VE GOT TO HAVE GRIT arrived with 1959 artwork, and then another arrived with 1977 artwork. And even more amusing when you overlay the two and compare them. So that's what we've decided to do here. You gotta have Grit! Image below is the 1959 version of the GRIT comic book. Roll your mouse over the image to see the 1977 version of the same comic book. Click either image to proceed to the next page. |

Page Fourten (click image for next page) - Click for front cover Notes: Panel one, Billy Adams address has remained "125 Oak St, Anytown USA" for both eras. Interesting examples of how one sent coins and cash by the mail in 1977 and 1959. Prominent businessmen and celebrities are removed from 1959 comic to show an emerging marketing idea about representing people of all races and genders in 1977. |
