Good morning - Welcome to the second day of FOUR DAYS OF FAR OUT GREEN, posting the entire set of Frank Thorne's extremely rare Social Welfare comic books. The first issue addressed delinquency. (and drugs and family court systems, and traffic)
What's the FAR OUT PROBLEM TODAY FOR ISSUE TWO? Larceny, Baby! And it introduces us to RIPOFF, the robot who steals.
IT WAS A GROOVE, MAN!
You know, it's with issue two of this awesome set of comics that I firmly fall in love with the oddness of Far Out Green Super Cool. Here, for day two, we are introduced to RIP, a thief. (He 'rips off' people).
One thing to consider, though, is WHO ELSE SAW THESE COMICS. I see a lot of English comics from the 1980s/1990s taking a direct absurdist route similar to Far Out Green. In some ways, it feels a lot like the Watchmen. Same thought applying to Marshall Law or Kick Ass. Fun to always think of this sort of thing - Enjoy issue Number Two - Larceny!
