UNKNOWN CO-FOUNDER OF THE UNDERGROUND PRESS
Pleased to announce our first comic book series in five years. (Click to view page one)
This will be a book length comic series on John Wilcock. People who enjoy focusing on underground and alternative media are occasionally familiar with John's work, but most often the response is "who's that?" Outside of small press historians and collectors, John remains very unknown. Which makes no sense, the more you learn about him. We're very excited about the opportunity to tell his story.
Art for THE STORY OF JOHN WILCOCK will be by me and co-conspirator Scott Marshall. Story comes from an extended and ongoing year-long interview with Wilcock, himself. The focus will be John's years in New York, roughly 1955-1971.

AND WHAT A TIME. John's story includes co-founding the Village Voice, cavorting around New York as a member of Andy Warhol's Factory, helping to establish the Underground Press Syndicate, and contributing thousands of pages of politicized content for magazines and newspapers the world over.

I'll be elaborating more in this space about the comic itself. But just to get it out the door, so to speak, here's a link to page one.
THE TRUE STORY OF JOHN WILCOCK
by Ethan Persoff and Scott Marshall
Now that The Realist Archive is complete, this will be the site's next long-form project. New pages every month.
Expect to see some cool comics featuring the entire cast of the sixties underground press, as well as Warhol's factory, Velvet Underground, and many many others.
RSS and Twitter for updates. Thanks, Ethan
