Additional Item - The Street Where You Live (1960)

Finally, here's a few excerpted pages (roughly half) from The Street Where You Live ... And What You Can Do To Improve It! - from 1960. Noticeably more depressing for its focus on garbage in a black neighborhood, also note the dirt roads and shacks. But beyond a dated sense of exploitation, it's interesting to see the core messages in Your Future Rests are found here, as well — and there's a good sense of improvement between this comic from 1960 and Your Future Rests, four years later. In many ways, Street Where You Live is our preferred comic of the two - but as it's an understatement to say these things are tricky to find, my copy is incomplete. Calls to NAACP indicate they might not even have file copies themselves. Here's the undamaged pages, though. Which I definitely think you'll value seeing - Ethan (click for letters)

To interrupt with a joke: appropriate cameo above from Archie Bunker
(who turns into Charles Durning by last panel of the page) But back to history:

and similar back cover to YOUR FUTURE RESTS

Thanks - Click for letters
