New Item: Extra pages to print out for Treasury of Mini Comics Vol 2
A supplemental download to include as inserts in your copy of Treasury of Mini Comics Vol 2

Howdy, welcome to February. — Over the holidays I was greeted to a few nice things in the mail, one of which was a box of contributor copies for Fantagraphics' big new anthology TREASURY OF MINI COMICS vol 2.

This thing is NICE. Packed with nearly 850 pages of comics. There are two very rare pieces of mine, which I'm thrilled to see included: The George Bush John McCain Tijuana Bible (which I did with Scott Marshall) and one of my earliest comics - Plastic Tales & Stories #2.

A few things got left out from these two comics. So, in the DIY spirit of the book itself, I thought it might be fun to include a download for you, containing a few extra things to print out, fold, and include as inserts into the volume.

ITEM NUMBER ONE: The original included essay on the history of the George Bush Tijuana Bible, "Vut is Myth is Now Fuct"

AUTHENTIC MEMORABILIA FROM 1934
Download and stick it in your Treasury!

The TRUE STORY behind the 1934 Tijuana Bible

Instructions: Print out at 100% and cut along straight line. Fold essay in half, place it inbetween pages 32 and 33. (there's also high res images of the red and yellow covers)

(right-click or option-click to save this PDF)

This important essay tells the story of how the 1934 Tijuana Bible on John McCain had survived in pop culture for over seventy years, and his intimate proven relationship with the Bush family. This essay was stapled into each copy of the Bibles when they were produced in 2008:

original pieces had this essay attached

(Read about the Tijuana Bible when it was first posted in 2008)

ITEM NUMBER TWO: An extra sheet of story for Plastic Tales.

Back when I worked on Plastic Tales, which was my first comic series in 1993, I was in art school with access to very unused offset printing equipment, and I experimented with tons of different formats of the same issue.

There was an eight page version, a forty page version, a sixteen page version, and - the one I sent to Fantagraphics - a fourteen page version, which was a twelve page form with double-sided cut-out page insert for "What to Do with Walter". I made these various length edits of the same issue to experiment with storytelling and jump cuts. (If you're a young comic book maker, I encourage you to do the same thing. Chop up your work and look for different segues and transitions)

a scene that wasn't included in the collected Treasury

It was only recenly that I compared the fourteen page version of Plastic Tales #2 to the sixteen page version, and realized there's a pretty funny set of jokes there. So, as an addendum to what's printed in Treasury of Mini Comics, included in the PDF is also those two pages. See above for a photo of the extra sheets folded into the Treasury.

(right-click or option-click to save this PDF)

Instructions: Download this page, print out at 100% and fold in half. Trim accordingly, and place inbetween pages 842 and 843.

It's just that easy! - Enjoy the comics, Ethan

An Incident on Liberty Street
The Day Kennedy was Killed

We'll be back with more in a few months.

Comics with Problems #67

Meet Gabby, the anti-pedophile puppet

Lastly, it's been a while since Comics with Problems made you specifically uncomfortable. So why not remedy that by meeting Gabby, the puppet behind "Stranger Danger" -- a very creepy coloring book from Marathon Oil.
